CHAPTER EIGHT PRACTICE OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE HEALING After going over the general subject of Christian Science in discussion of the theory or idea, the system of thought which the words involve, we now come to consider the application of those principles to concrete cases. Suppose that the reader of these lines is a "healer." This term must include several classes of persons. Some have taken regular courses of study and laboratory work, of hospital and clinic preparation for the "practice of medicine." Some have taken a certain amount of such study under the care of a practitioner, and attained to a fair degree of familiarity with anatomy and physiology and hygiene, a respectable degree of knowledge of remedies and processes of treatment of sicknesses and disease. Some have gone through courses of study at "Metaphysical" institutions and given attention to the mental and psychological aspects of health and disease, of sickness and cure. Some have simply entered on the practice of the healing art or science without any particular study or instruction, relying on the potency of ideas and spiritual forces. Whatever the previous preparation has been, the reader may gain help from the following suggestions, because they are the fruit of broad and varied reading, study and observation. First of all, then, when you enter a house or place of alleged sickness, be alert to observe everything. Notice the state of the air, the cleanliness or dirt, the presence of healthful or injurious conditions, and see whether it is within your power to abate any of those which are positively antagonistic to health.
